Floor lamp bases, most commonly you're, going to find these bases from a sort of antique stores you might find them at the markets. Maybe it's a hand-me-down or someone's left it on the side of the road. It's got this funny sort of plastic or glass diffuse that goes on it. Often they've got an old-style switch, maybe not maybe it's got a switch somewhere else, but these diffuse kind of get in the way of putting a lampshade some shady designs on them. So the question is how do you fit one on originally, this lamp would have come with a lampshade that looks a bit like this with a funny spider at the top, and then the lampshade just sits on the top of the diffuse.
What's the problem, though, with these sort of designs is they're really bumpy and flimsy, and they often take a knock because it does not screw it into place properly. Sometimes there is a final at the top where it sort of locks into place, but not often so. Here's a couple of steps that you can take to put in a conventional lampshade on.
If we tip the the lamp down on the inside, we can see a little screw part if you unscrew that you can simply lift off the diffuse and it comes away and what we're revealed with has a conventional lamp holder. Just like we've got you so this is a standard b22 lamp holder and that fits any of our lampshades. So you can sleep that new lampshade on there and using our shade ring. You can lock it into place. If I doing that, it means that the shade doesn't have the wobbles anymore and it's fixed securely into place.
