Lula Sharp Table Lamp November 06th, 2018 - 11:45:56
The pulley light. Fixture we picked up this, this old wooden barn pulley for this project. It has a nice iron hook on one side and twin pulleys for two lights. We gave it a quick scrub with fine steel, wood, and pledge. Quite a bit of dirt came off and the beauty of the wood grain really started to show. These two work lights came from our local hardware, store for five dollars each. We removed the shade and bracket. These parts can be discarded at the moment.
We might use them in the future for something else. Next, we cut and labeled the hot wire. The hot wire or black wire has the short prong. While the neutral or white wire has the larger prong. The wires were trimmed to the desired length and threaded into the wooden pulley. The canopy is from an old brass chandelier. It needs to be scuffed, so the paint will stick to it. We sprayed the canopy with a couple of coats of satin black. Due to a large number of wires.
We had to drill a hole in the canopy, so we could feed all of the wiring through. Next, we installed our mounting bracket and connected our wires using wire nuts. The canopy was raised and secured into place using the old hardware that we painted. The pulley was then hooked onto the canopy and we pulled the slack out of wiring.
