Kelli Callahan Table Lamp September 24th, 2018 - 02:30:02
Madeira lighting collection consists of floor lamps and table lamps with very clean lines and simplified design to highlight the beauty of its shades, which are made out of natural materials such as Buddha, leaf and pen. Shell divers harvest the pen, shell off the coast of the Philippine islands. After the harvesting process, all shells are sorted by hand. Looking for the most translucent, when the shell is still in its natural state, we adhere cheesecloth to the back of the shell, then we'll crack the shell and we can create any shape desired. At this point, skilled craftsmen fit every piece of pen shell together much like building a puzzle.
It is very critical that this is done correctly or you have unwanted light leakage. This process is very labor-intensive and it needs to be done correctly. The inlay process can take up to eight hours for the large floor lamp and up to five hours for the smaller table. Lamp. At this point we'll coat with the layer of resin and polish to enhance its natural beauty, the leaves are harvested from local Buddha trees.
Then we'll put them through a five step drying process until just the skeleton remains. The inlay process is much like the pen shell. It will take up to two hours for the larger shade and one hour for the smaller table lamp. The design inspiration was to create ambient mood lighting out of natural materials and bring the shapes and forms of nature into your home. I've been involved in many different lighting collections and what I truly enjoy about this collection is handmade completely from the handmade base.
